Hyperbole, education center

As Turkey’s first Disaster Prevention and Education Centre, we propose a new type of public institution that provides both a stimulating experiential learning space, and an interactive atmospheric public space. The hyperbolic building reflects both the stable hyperboloid structure of the built form and the use of exaggerated atmospheric stimuli, that together creates a dynamic and contrasting architectural proposal, one that questions notions of ‘stability’ in an unstable natural environment. The design thus suggests a new type of public learning space, one where atmospheric stimuli and experiential environments help to create a dynamic and engaging space that explores the relationship between natural and man-made
stability in an disaster situation.
