Avenues New York is a 15-grade independent school located at 259 Tenth Avenue on the west side of Manhattan and adjacent to the High Line. Avenues: The World School was founded in 2009 is designated to match a curriculum centered on the core values of high academic standards self-directed leaning collaboration and global citizenship. The facility is part of a growing global network of campuses including São Paulo, Brazil and Shenzhen, China. An historic landmark warehouse originally designed in 1928 by Cass Gilbert was transformed into an innovative 10-story 205,000-SF, high-end educational development from pre-K - 12th grade.
Since opening in 2012, Avenues New York has grown its student body from 740 students to more than 1,750 in 2019. Therefore a $20M renovation project of 40,000-SF in 8 floors. was desperately needed. The project compassed of work to common spaces on 1st & 3rd floors, pre-k on the 2nd floor, lower school on 4-6 floors, high school on 7-10, the fitness on the 9 floor and the Gymnasium on the top floor. Responsible for producing detailed CDs in REVIT and for site surveying and integration of as-built conditions into a working BIM model. The redesign and reorganization of the interior spaces, required phased demolition & intrinsic design coordination among new mechanical and structural with existing MEP systems.
