Cornerstone Bank’s commitment to the Lexington community was evident in their acquisition and development of Lot 1 on the corner of one of the more prominent intersections in the historic district of downtown Lexington, VA.

Challenged with designing a new bank headquarters and branch that fit within this historic setting, Baskervill maintained the scale of the downtown buildings by making the new building appear to be two distinct structures. The branch occupies the first floor while the upper two floors are for management and operations. The drive-thru was an important feature for the client and a real concern for the Architectural Review Board. Baskervill’s solution was to utilize the “adjacent” building which allowed the new structure to maintain the historical street facade while integrating this important function.
