AAAAAAHHHHH. BUT I STILL COME BACK

THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS HAVE BEEN HELL. WE HAVE HAD SOMETHING DUE IN STUDIO AT EVERY MEETING AND IF NOT STUDIO ANOTHER CLASS. AS I GET READY TO PULL MY HAIR OUT, I THINK TO MYSELF THAT "I LOVE THIS!" HOW CAN A HUMAN BEING JUGGLE SO MANY THINGS AND YET STILL LOVE WHAT THEY ARE DOING? I GUESS THAT WHAT MAKES ARCHITECTURAL STUDENTS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. I MEAN I WAS IN STUDIO ALL FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY. WOW WHAT A WEEKEND. I MEAN TUESDAY WAS MY BIRTHDAY AND INSTEAD OF DRINKING MY WAY TO HAPPINESS I WORK ON MY DESIGN LIKE A MAD MAN. BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS. I'M JUST DRAWN TO IT NO MATTER HOW HARD IT IS. OUR TIME MANAGEMENT HAS TO BE ON POINT BECAUSE OF THE RESTRICTIONS THEY HAVE PUT AT THE SCHOOL. WE CANT PULL ALL NIGHTERS BECAUSE THE ARCHITECTURE BUILDING IS SHUT DOWN AT MIDNIGHT. SO WE HAVE TO CARRY OUR STUFF HOME. IT'S REALLY KILLING STUDIO CULTURE AT OUR SCHOOL. HARDLY ANYONE GOES TO STUDIO ANYMORE TO WORK BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO PACK AND LEAVE. I COMMUTE 1/2 HOUR AND STILL I'M THERE. MAN, I GUESS I HAVE A SERIOUS ADDICTION TO THIS THING CALLED ARCHITECTURE. HOPEFULLY THERE IS NO CURE.

I HAVE FINISHED MY SITE AND IT WAS PICKED AS ONE OF THE SITES TO BUILD ON. THE CONCEPT WAS TO "LIVE IN THE TREES." I WISH THE PEOPLE BUILDING ON THE SITE WOULD ACTUALLY BUILD A TREEHOUSE. MY BUDDIES AND I LOVED BUILDING TREEHOUSE WHEN WE WERE YOUNGER. WELL I GUESS I CANT CONTROL THEIR DESIGN IDEAS. I WOULDNT WANT THOSE SAME RESTRICTIONS ON ME. WE HAVE TO WORK WITH PARTNER AND SO FAR IT HAS BEEN AN EXPERIENCE. WE ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE IT IS OKAY WITH THE BOTH OF US. THE PROFESSORS WANT US TO LEARN TO DESIGN AS A TEAM OR SO I THINK.

SO I DID GO AND DESIGN MY CABIN TO MIMIC THE SEA SHELLS THAT I FOUND. MY PARTNER BECAME THE ROCK MASS AND MINE BECAME THE CLUSTER OF SHELLS GLUED TO IT. THE SITE THAT WE ARE ON HAS THE CONCEPT OF COMMUNITY. SO I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE SEA SNAILS THAT I FOUND AND EXPLAINED TO HIM HOW THE ROCK AND SNAILS ACT AS A COMMUNITY WITHIN THE SITE. sO HE WAS THRILLED AT THE IDEA TO DESIGN A BUILDING AFTER A ROCK. IT TOOK A VIGOROUS ATTEMPT TO CONVINCE HIM THAT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA. I WILL PUT PICTURES UP SOON AND CLIPPINGS FROM MY SKETCHBOOK SOON. I APOLOGIZE IF I'M RAMBLING BUT THE LACK OF SLEEP IS GETTING TO ME.

Good luck! Sounds like fun! And horrible at the same time, of course. :) Hang in there.

Part of my dream home for myself has a treehouse bit to it. Every so often when I'm on the train I pull out my sketchbook and elaborate on it a bit more...

also, my school attempted one year to do that midnight-cut off thing, and it was a complete disaster. They abandoned the effort after one year. Hopefully your school will do the same. (Here's a hint: you can't just cut out 6 hours of working time every night unless you also lessen the workload!)
