Renovation of apartment lobby and hallways in downtown Ann Arbor, MI, including a custom designed installation for the lobby and updated lighting and color schemes. The expansive mixed-use lobby connects both retail and residential, and sees heavy traffic from student tenants and other patrons. New stone flooring meets a dark gray accent wall on the north side of the lobby. Opposite is Synecdoche's bright blue installation of paneled aluminum bars with LED back lights. Using the existing soffit structure, this 18 ft x 25 ft canopy and wall piece proposes a unique lighting strategy with minimal intrusion, while creating a striking graphic of patterned lines in the central corridor.
