Louisville, KY
2019 AIA Kentucky Honor Award
Renovation/expansion of the branch with the highest circulation in the Louisville system. Renovation of 6,000sf of the existing City Hall building (formerly a school) and new construction of about 11,000 sf, the expansion gave a new identity to the library.
Master planning of the full City Hall campus allowed clarification of entry points, and zoning of parking, circulation, and paths to maximize usefulness of open landscaped spaces.
Addition provides open daylit space with flexibility as a goal - both anticipating a future where print media is less a focus while also accommodating the current growth in circulation of print media.
