Louisville, KY
2013 AIA Kentucky Honor Award
A chapel moved to a Louisville Metro Parks property, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, in 2006. The project renovated the chapel and constructed a support building so that the one-room chapel may be used for weddings and other events. The two buildings are connected by a colonnade/canopy that will frame a courtyard between them.
Care has been taken to detail the canopy to have a light visual impact. The new building is a small, quiet backdrop, acknowledging the hierarchy of the mid-19thC brick chapel.
