The geotechnical and civil engineering company, Matrix New World, wanted to project a strong, dynamic identity onto their two floors of a banal office park building in rural New Jersey. To do so on a limited budget, innovative uses of stock materials were combined with midcentury classic furnishings and custom systems furniture. The lobby features a screen wall of polycarbonate tubes which will be filled over time with selected core drilling samples from their geographically diverse projects. A stair divider and reception desk utilize industrial steel grating, and systems furniture are built with steel Unistrut and Euroform, a coated plywood manufactured as concrete formwork.
