Bowery Carriage House

A 1910 carriage house in lower Manhattan was fully renovated and re-unified from a three-unit building to a single home for a modern art collector. A sunken below-grade living room is open to the kitchen, dining and full width skylight above. Horizontal lines of warm oak shelves, stairs, floor and ceiling are punctuated by strong black verticals in handrails and hanging fireplace. A library nook wrapped with floor to ceiling oak shelving and a built-in custom leather couch is tucked under the kitchen. Bedrooms, offices and bathroom all feature custom oak or lacquered millwork.
