Some years ago every Italian town was full of many Tanning Centre like this. When I got the commission to design a New Solarium in an overstocked market, I clearly knew I had to do something new.
I didn’t want to talk about Sun, but Artificial Light (the light of the treatment machines), I didn’t want to hide, as everybody do, but I wanted to show the more I could.
The physical aspects of the artificial light inspired the material selection, the colours project and the lighting project.
The treatment area layout is very functional and well-run, and guarantee the greatest privacy to the customers. The reception and waiting area are instead totally visible from the outside to communicate the business.
The windows shaded to hide the treatment area, thanks to a detailed back-lit system, become a powerful communcation tool.
The market had acknowledge the innovative approach and rewarded the project.
