While I was thinking about filling the space with something “empty” and make it enough playful and cosy for kids, I came up with the visual memories of the incredible Beatles animation movie: Yellow Submarine.
To get into the space, feeling shrouded by the power of colors and set off on a fantastic journey on a striking small craft - this is the Concept for the project of this shop for kid’s shoes.
Shoes were not to be displayed and, consequently, a great deal of storage space was needed.
The brief translation required the building of a central double-height object that accomodates two functional sections. In the upper half, cabinet doors that form an accordion-like celing hide the storage area, while back-lit panels sliding on metal rollers conceal an extensive collection of shoes.
Colours explode throught panels featuring blow-ups of microorganism wich seem to show the colours real nature.
A striped carpet in vivid colours invites children to run and skip - a great way to test shoes and pick the most comfortable pair.
