Design Makes this Hotel a Destination
OBMI embraced the culture and history of Marigot Bay to create a uniquely transformative destination, with a design that fosters varied programming. Marigot Bay has been described as the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean, and the new layout we created captures its most enchanting views for Marigot Bay Resort. We also created a unique Rum Cave that is far more than just another bar; it’s a fascinating, experiential, and delectable history lesson.
OBMI was asked to take on the challenge of renovating and upgrading the existing facility, to become a 5-Star Hotel. The design scheme was to extend the island, and creatively reinterpret it into a tropical and modern experience. The project was a collaborative effort amongst three of our Caribbean offices – Antigua, who project managed and coordinated the design team, Tortola was assigned as the lead architect, and Trinidad who produced and supported all of the interior design works.
The architecture at Marigot Bay Resort features a series of one-, two- and three-storey traditional wooden structures perched on the hillside. Among the 124 guest rooms are lavish penthouse suites, but the programming is what makes this a destination more than just a hotel. Dining at Capella is endlessly entertaining, with a demonstration kitchen in the main restaurant, a sushi bar, an Argentinean grill, a private dining room, and three bars. Add to that three swimming pools, a swim-up bar, and an extensive spa, and you have a storied experience for guests.
