In the competiton seeking proposals to replace Bertrand Goldberg’s iconic Prentice Woman’s Hospital in Chicago, Northwestern University has selected Perkins+Will as the winning firm.

P+W prevailed over two other shortlisted teams — Goettsch Partners/Ballinger and Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture/Payette — and will get to design the new 600,000 square foot Biomedical Research Building for the Feinberg School of Medicine on Northwestern University’s downtown Chicago campus. — bustler.net

Young Architects Competitions recently announced the winning projects for Post-Quake Visions. The international ideas competition aimed to encourage research and new ideas for the reconstruction of the Italian City of Crevalcore, which was struck by a May 2012 earthquake that destroyed hundreds of ancient buildings.

Out of 356 teams from over 54 countries, the jury selected 3 prize winners, 4 "gold" honorable mentions, and 8 honorable mentions. — bustler.net

After tight competition and vigorous deliberation from the jury, six Project winners were selected for the Public Interest Design Global. The winners will present their projects and discuss social impact design at a public global convening at the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris on April 18-19, 2014. — bustler.net

The shakeup means there will be no Lubetkin Prize or RIBA International awards given next year.

Named after the Georgian émigré and Modernist Berthold Lubetkin, the 8-year old accolade had been open only to RIBA chartered architects and international fellows with its shortlist drawn from each year’s set of RIBA International Award winners.

schmidt hammer lassen has been chosen to design the new 30,000 m2 Ningbo Central Library in the coastal city of Ningbo, China. shl's winning design will display the library's collection of more than 2 million books — including the largest number of historic and ancient books in Ningbo, one of China's oldest cities. — bustler.net

Bramberger [architects] from Graz, Austria had the winning scheme to design the High Tech Campus in Villach, Austria.

Bramberger's clear-cut scheme integrates office and educational facilities with green space that will eventually connect with surrounding buildings to create a fully functioning campus. — bustler.net

Bartłomiej Gowin and Krzysztof Siuta of Krakow-based GowinSiuta Studio were the first-prize winners of the 2013 Changing The Face competition. Architects were invited to send their proposals to redesign central Warsaw's Rotunda, a landmark and popular meeting space that houses Central Europe's largest bank, PKO Bank Polski. — bustler.net

Here's a pretty cool Warming Huts v. 2014 submission we received from APTUM Architecture, based in the U.S. and Switzerland. As its name states, APTUM's warming hut proposal was inspired by stalactite formations that hang from the ceilings of caves. — bustler.net

The Turkish Çanakkale Antenna Tower International Competition has announced eight firms that passed the pre-selection hurdle and can now proceed to the second stage for design development. The jury selected the finalists from a pool of 130 eligible applicants. The teams will now have until February 15, 2014 to submit their design proposals. — bustler.net

Dubai won the bid to host the World Expo 2020, being the first Middle Eastern city selected in the Expo's 160-year history. HOK, in partnership with Populous and Arup, led the design team that developed the master plan, themed "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." Their proposal won against those from Brazil, Russia, and Turkey.

The 1,082-acre (438-hectare) Expo site is equidistant from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, next to the new Al Maktoum International Airport and near the Jebel Ali Port. — bustler.net
