The cycle superhighway, which opened in April, is the first of 26 routes scheduled to be built to encourage more people to commute to and from Copenhagen by bicycle. Meanwhile in (parts of) the U.S.: 64 Kenowa Hills High School Students Suspended for Riding Bikes to School and Arrested for Biking to School? among other headlines.
We'll get there. Some day.
Having studied in Copenhagen for a while, I can testify that their bike amenities are "fantastik". It does require a lot of tax payers to cooperate with that kind of infrastructure. I hope that those of us who love our bikes as fun and transportation can spread the word...and the joy.
I look forward to times when cities and policies are made for people, not just for cars.
