If this is any indication of where the current architectural agenda is or has been in last few years during which the economic downturn made many people aware of dire situations, this is the time to take it easy on jargon driven form and isolated object making high horse and beat the streets where the people and things that matter are located.
Arrogant, unaware and spoiled brat expression "fuck context" is and was stupid.
Those people who identified themselves with a tired formal newness can now learn context means much more than adjacent building heights and material matching. It is the essence of design thinking for buildings making the city and conditions they create which directly relate to people's lives. It is the essence for all ideas around sustainability, social interface and livable future. Reasons to design things. The backdrop for all spontaneity and action.
I welcome the change and the awareness, that, the world does not evolve around self centered delusional shape making and poser bad boy slogans.
(Even though it is relatively clear in my above post, "fuck context" reference is a direct relationship to people who took the expression quite literally and appropriated for their out of touchness.)
Hey, anyone notice this name down on the list?
