The CMU School of Architecture's Spring '21 lecture series features an amazing lineup of speakers. Starting in February and continuing through April, the school has curated a series that touches on architecture, professional practice, race and aesthetics, history, and design futures. The school continues with its SoA Dialogue Series titled "Framing Utopias." This special series is conducted "is a set of moderated themed conversations, challenging and inspiring us to re-envision our future."

Kicking of the lectures series CMU invited architectural powerhouse, Pascale Sablan, founder of Beyond the Built and practicing architect at Adjaye Associates to speak on February 15th in her lecture "I Was Asked to Stand." Michael Stone-Richards who an author and Professor of Critical Practice and Visual Studies at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit will present his lecture "Negation, Disavowal, and the Ethics of Attention: Between Solange Faladéand Stanley Cavell" on February 22th. On March 10th the school welcomes back Pascale Sablan and Michael Stone-Richards for the Reframing Utopias discussion "Radical Anxiety/Radical Futures. During this conversation they share "their thoughts on the collapse of familiarity, the interrelatedness of exposure, attention, and care, and their visions on the power of action towards revolutionary futures."
The month of March continues with a lecture from Paul Lewis of LTL Architects on March 8th. He will discuss his recently published book Manual of Section. Lewis is also a Professor and Associate Dean at Princeton University School of Architecture. Steve Kieran of KieranTimberlake will present his lecture "FULLNESS: The Art of the Whole" on March 22. Following Kieran is Sara Lewis Associate Professor at Harvard University in the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Department of African and African American Studies. She presents her lecture "Groundwork: Race and Aesthetics in the Era of Stand Your Ground Law" on March 29th where she discusses her upcoming book titled Caucasian War. Lewis is also the founder of the Vision & Justice Project.
Concluding their lecture series will be a conversation between Paul Lewis and Steve Kieranon April 12th for the concluding set of "Reframing Utopias" talks.
