As the Bauhaus approaches its centennial next year, what better way to emerge oneself in the essence of Modernism than enjoying an overnight stay in the school founder's most iconic creation, the Walter Gropius-designed Bauhaus building complex in Dessau, Germany.
The towering studio building, slightly set back from the school's main building and completed in 1926, is a stunning masterpiece of early modernist architecture, and its 28 rooms that once accommodated the likes of Marcel Breuer, Hannes Meyer, and Josef Albers, are available for reservations via the Bauhaus Dessau booking form.
Rates start at 40 Euros for a single room, 60 Euros for a double room, and 50 Euros for one of the carefully reconstructed rooms dedicated to the Bauhauslers Alfred and Gertrud Arndt, Josef and Anni Albers, and Franz Ehrlich and their achievements in furniture design. Showers and bathrooms are shared on each floor, Bauhaus style.

I have seen more attractive rooms with dental chairs in them. At least you might be able to look at a cat calendar with your root canal.
