As the brand-new rendering above shows, the luxury condo tower designed by Jean Nouvel will boast an unusual amenity: floors 2, 4 and 5 of 53W53 will serve as new gallery levels for the Museum of Modern Art when construction is completed. Additionally, according to a fact sheet, "benefactor W53 MoMA membership runs with each residence, and includes curated benefits and the potential for the building to host private events in the museum's sculpture garden." The tower, which is slated to top out at 1,050 feet, will be home to 145 residences ranging in size from one to five bedrooms, with a few private-elevator-accessible penthouse suites.
No two condos will have the same layout, thanks to the combination of Jean Nouvel's self-described "diagrid," which refers to the tower's pronounced exterior structural system, and the tapering design itself, which precludes repetitive formats. The interiors of each condo are being designed by Thierry Despont, and feature perks including motorized solar shades, an exterior building system that automatically cleans the windows, and a "programmable golf simulator."
But perhaps the tower's best feature is the vertical pool-side gardens designed by Patrick Blanc, whose work could be described as resplendent foiliage tapestries. A rendering of the 65-foot long pool reveals a muscular, sculptural overhang that acts as a frame for Blanc's garden.
Current construction photos reveal both the diagrid and the taper of the tower up to the recently completed 58th floor, as well as the extraordinary views of New York City that future tenants will be able to enjoy.

John Hancock ripoff for the obscenely wealthy.
Too shiny and boring, if only they clad it with something with a bit more patina or character, something bronze-copperish maybe, like this:
That'd be nice.
Where have I seen that before?
