2016 Structural Awards winners announced, Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre wins Supreme Excellence
The competitive 2016 Structural Awards honors the innovations and crucial roles of structural engineers worldwide. For starters, the Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre in Surrey, Canada won the coveted Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence.
Shortlisted “Illuminated River” lighting scheme proposals unveiled
Six teams led by well-known architects and artists are hoping to light up central London's bridges with their design schemes in the “Illuminated River” competition. The jury will pick the proposal deemed as the most “elegant and charismatic” approach.
Herzog & de Meuron appointed for Royal College of Art Battersea campus
Herzog & de Meuron emerged as “the clear choice” to design the RCA's new Battersea campus. The competition's Architectural Selection Panel picked Herzog & de Meuron's initial concept because it demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the potential of the Battersea site.
Get cozy in the latest Warming Huts winning designs
Winnipeg's 2017 Warming Huts competition was another success. The competition concluded with three winning designs, a special installation by esteemed artist Anish Kapoor, as well as another installation by a local high-school student. All will be constructed in January for the winter season.
