Daniel Libeskind to design shiny mixed-use complex in Vilnius
Daniel Libeskind is making his mark — in all its signature jagged, geometric wonder — throughout the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius. Most recently Studio Libeskind won the competition to design a new mixed-use building complex. Any thoughts on the design?
RIBA announces 2016 Stirling Prize shortlist
And then there were six. RIBA is down to the six shortlisted projects competing for the prestigious Stirling Prize, including a revamped historic library at Oxford and a gallery for Damien Hurst's private collection, to name a few.
The winning results of the New London Awards 2016
Celebrating the cream of the crop in recently completed projects based throughout London, 26 projects were selected as category winners out of 136 entries. Peter Barber Architects' Holmes Road Studio for the homeless (pictured above) won overall. Well deserved!
Nineteen 2016 Fuller Challenge semi-finalists revealed
From sustainable human burials, water catchment systems for schools, to feminine hygiene products made out of banana fiber, 19 semi-finalist initiatives are vying to win the big $100,000 prize in the 2016 Fuller Challenge.
“A Serpentine Science” and “Deserted Border Lands” win the 2016 Norden Fund
This year's Norden Fund awarded two student proposals. One winner will retrace the legacy of architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy in Rio de Janeiro, while the other winning team will study the impact of increasingly aggressive security at the border between Sonora, Mexico and the Tohono O’odham reservation in Arizona.
Announcing the DENCITY 2016 winners!
In response to the widespread consequences of rapid urbanization, Shelter Global launched the second edition of their annual DENCITY competition. Architects are asked how they would help alleviate sub-standard housing conditions through self-sufficient and empowering means.
