The six Guggenheim Helsinki finalists are announced
Stage One of the controversial Guggenheim Helsinki competition reeled in an entertaining mix of 1,715 entries from 77 countries. EyeTime announces the 2014 winners
The popular annual EyeTime contest promotes the ongoing research and exploration in today's emerging talent from all around the globe. Yoshio Taniguchi + Jasper Morrison to receive 2nd Isamu Noguchi Award
Architect Yoshio Taniguchi and industrial designer Jasper Morrison will receive the second annual Isamu Noguchi Award next spring. The award recognizes individuals whose work represents the collaborative and multi-disciplinary qualities of landscape architect and artist Isamu Noguchi. Norman Foster and artist Hiroshi Sugimoto won the inaugural award earlier this year.
First images of BIG’s Malaysia Square in London’s Battersea Power Station
Just a few weeks after BIG won the competition for the project, the first images of the public Malaysia Square in London's Battersea Power Station redevelopment were unveiled. The public square, which will be BIG's first U.K. project, is only a part of the major £8 billion redevelopment.
Finalists and Jury of Global Holcim Awards 2015 entering the homestretch
Now that all five regional competitions are done, the gold, silver and bronze winners will advance to the Global Holcim Awards 2015. Now in its fourth edition, the competition encourages building solutions and visions that go beyond convention to address the challenges of sustainability. EFFEKT to design a new Streetmekka skate facility in Denmark
The Esbjerg "Game Streetmekka" facility by Danish architects EFFEKT celebrates street sports and culture as part of the contemporary urban fabric. EFFEKt's collaborative design won 1st prize in a competition to repurpose a former historic train-engine depot into a new multi-purpose street sports and creative facility for the Esbjerg community in Denmark.
SelgasCano to design 2015 Serpentine Pavilion
SelgasCano of Madrid will be designing the fifteenth Serpentine Galleries Pavilion in London's Kensington Gardens. For the past 15 years, the Serpentine Galleries has invited architects like Sou Fujimoto, Jean Nouvel, Peter Zumthor, SANAA, Zaha Hadid, and most recently Smiljan Radic to design the temporary outdoor structure for the Galleries' anticipated summer event.
Winners of the 2014 RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards
Established in 1836, the RIBA President's Medals are considered to be the world's highest awards in architectural education. This year's awards received nominations for student design projects and dissertations from 317 architecture schools in 61 countries — the highest number on record. Above is the top-winning project "PoohTown" by Nick Elias (Bartlett School of Architecture - University College London).
Winners of the 2014 New Zealand Student Design Awards
The New Zealand Institute of Architects' celebrated another year of architecture student work excellence in the 2014 NZIA Graphisoft Student Design Awards. Every year, the top four final-year students from each of New Zealand’s three Schools of Architecture compete for the top prestigious award.
