The Glass Lantern at Apple Store Istanbul named as Structural Awards 2014 grand prize winner
A dozen projects were awarded in this year's Structural Awards 2014. Engineering design practice Eckersley O'Callaghan won the Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence for their work on The Glass Lantern at the Apple Store in Istanbul.

Recent Harvard GSD graduate Yaohua Wang finished his M.Arch program on a high note by winning the 2014 James Templeton Kelley Prize for Best M.Arch II Thesis for his project "Salvaged Stadium". As usual, Wang's ideas garnered plenty of attention.
Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia voted as America’s Best Public Restroom 2014
Did you vote in Cintas' 2014 America's Best Public Restroom competition? The popular contest promotes not only good-looking restrooms, but also the importance of maintaining public restroom hygiene. The Longwood Gardens restroom in Philadelphia won America's vote and took the top prize.
Renzo Piano to design new Kum & Go corporate HQ in Iowa
Out of six finalists, Renzo Piano Building Workshop was appointed as design architect for the new 120,000 sq.ft corporate headquarters of Midwest convenience retailer chain Kum & Go in Des Moines, Iowa.
Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter to design Wadden Sea Centre in UNESCO heritage site
In their latest competition win, Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter will design the Wadden Sea Centre for the city of Esbjerg, Denmark. The Centre will be built at the Wadden Sea, which is Denmark's largest national park and a UNESCO-appointed World Heritage site.
Kathryn Gustafson wins 8th Obayashi Prize
Landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson of Seattle-based Gustafson Guthrie Nichol and London's Gustafson Porter won the 8th annual Obayashi Prize in Tokyo. The prize is awarded to a recipient whose work is in tune with the Obayashi Foundation's mission of supporting interdisciplinary design research in relation to cities and urbanism.
Upcoming IIDEXCanada 2014 adds Gehry Partners’ David Mirvish + David Nam as keynotes
IIDEXCANADA, Canada's national architecture and design expo and conference, will celebrate its 30th anniversary at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on December 3-4. Joining David Rockwell and Daniel Libeskind as keynote speakers are David Mirvish and David Nam of Gehry Partners.
