Vincent Scully Prize 2014 awarded to journalist and TV host Charlie Rose
TV anchor and journalist Charlie Rose was announced as the 2014 recipient of the esteemed Vincent Scully Prize. In November, Rose will receive the award in recognition for his insightful interviews with the world's leading thinkers that explore the value of good design as well as the growth and shaping of the urban cityscape.
The 2014 finalists of America’s Best Public Restroom are anything but crap
Cintas' America's Best Restroom Contest is back for its 13th year, and 10 finalists are still in the running to become America's next top toilet. Winners will be selected by a public online vote happening now until October 31.
The Next Helsinki counter-competition launches in response to Guggenheim Helsinki controversy
Launched by a group of independent arts organizations and chaired by Michael Sorkin, The Next Helsinki bluntly addresses the controversy that the Guggenheim Helsinki competition has sparked. The ideas competition began on September 10, the same day that Stage One of the Guggenheim Helsinki competition concluded.

Winners of the regional Holcim Awards 2014 for Europe
Twelve projects from throughout the European continent were announced as the first set of regional winners for the prestigious Holcim Awards. The awards highlight sustainable construction projects that address challenges in the building and construction industry.

The winning PLAYscape is now open as Cape Town’s first central skatepark
Local skate enthusiasts are now enjoying the new Mill St. skatepark, Cape Town's first central skatepark that opened last month to local residents. Designed by a Cape Town-based multidisciplinary team, the skatepark was built after being named as the professional winners of the PLAYscapes design competition last October.

World Architecture Festival 2014 adds Ole Scheeren as speaker + new conference sessions
The highly anticipated World Architecture Festival in Singapore this October announced Ole Scheeren -- the principal of Buro Ole Scheeren -- as the latest addition to the notable lineup of keynote speakers, along with various conference sessions. Keynote speakers include Richard Rogers, Rocco Yim, Saskia Sassen and Moshe Safdie.
