Aranea is Latin for spider, riffing on the idea of the spider’s web and hence network.
Operating from Alicante, a sunny Spanish city on the Mediterranean, Aranea is a multidisciplinary group founded in 1998 by Marta García Chico, Agricultural Engineer, Master in Landscape and the architect Francisco Leiva Ivorra. At the current moment the Aranea team comprises architects, engineers, landscapists, artists, a biologist and a sociologist.
Aranea is particularly sensitive in reinterpreting geographical contexts and taking on programmatic challenges.
Aranea’s ambition is to gradually create an international network of collaborators with a view to putting together a collection of varied and motivating contexts in which to intervene.
