North Bay Road II

Pons transformed North Bay Road into a “bridge between earth and water” with a tropical design language that both honors and updates Miami Beach’s particular interpretation of Modernism. Transitions between interior and exterior spaces are fluid with pale Travertine walls and floors. Columns of dark carved wood and stainless-steel follow corridors from the outside to the inside and outside again.

Natural light enters from expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and showers down interior walls through slender gaps between the ceilings and the walls. Ipe wood floors and teak ceilings contrast with the light-colored Travertine, gently emphasizing the simplicity of the lines of the residence, its volumes and voids.

Interiors come to life through an eclectic mix of ‘ordinary’ objects and expensive pieces living together in harmony. A collection of pottery is contrasted with a teak wall shelving system, bringing the colors back to nature and enhancing the beauty of each piece. The dining room has been curated to show a great collection of mid-century design. Color and humor are used to create a casual yet sophisticated environment.
