Private Residence - Renovation
OBJECTIVES
- Complete stylistic and spatial re-envisioning of the existing house.
- Improve the ability to entertain large groups.
- Maximize the available views to the water.
DESIGN 1
- The dining and living rooms is combined into a contiguous free-flowing space in order to maximize the house’s ability to host large social gatherings.
- The kitchen has been relocated to the other side of the house. This allows the creation of a continuous stretch of floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors to take full advantage of the gorgeous water views.
- This initial design introduces a sleek, contemporary aesthetic in keeping with the open planning and expanded glazing.
DESIGN 2
- After discussions with the Client, the new design integrates ideas from the initial design into the existing aesthetic of the house.
- While adhering to the house’s local vernacular style, the new design introduces full-height glass sliding doors and increased the amount of exterior glazing.
- Interior spaces are combined and opened up while maintaining the building’s existing spatial volumes and roof profiles.
