Hitoshi Amano is an accomplished senior architect, seeking to parlay his extensive experience as Project Architect and Lead Designer on corporate, commercial, and residential projects of varying scales and budgets towards new challenges in the architectural profession.     

He has managed all phases of an architectural project’s life cycle from preliminary discussions through post-occupancy support.  He has overseen and delivered on a full range of architectural tasks and services:

  • Client Discussions and Surveys.
  • Pre-Design Research and Programming.
  • Schematic Design, including feasibility and planning studies.
  • Conceptual Design, including studies of options and alternatives.
  • Project Scheduling, including phasing.
  • Presentation Production, including 3D modeling and renderings.
  • Research and Development – including building systems, construction products, materials, and details.
  • Project Coordination with consultants and engineers.
  • Documents Production for pricing, filing, and construction.
  • Construction Administration.
  • Lead internal teams of architects and designers, and liaised with external, multidisciplinary teams of consultants, engineers, building and facilities managers, vendors, and contractors.

He has extensive experience leading in-house project teams, as well as maintaining close communication with clients, contractors, consultants and other industry professionals.  While self-motivated and able to be productive while working independently, Hitoshi believes that architecture and design are collaborative endeavors and relishes the opportunity to interact with multidisciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds.

Hitoshi is experienced with a variety of software relevant to the craft of architectural design:

    • 3D modeling and rendering – AutoCad, Accurender, and 3d Studio VIZ
    • Architectural photography and image manipulation – Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop
    • Desktop publishing and web design – InDesign, Pagemaker and Frontpage
    • Management and productivity tools – Microsoft Office Suite
    • In the process of expanding his proficiency in Revit and BIM.

Hitoshi is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Renovation of amenity spaces for a premiere office building, including new Conference Center, Cafeteria and, Fitness Facilities.

• Coordinated with a team of design professionals including structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, lighting, food service and fitness center consultants.
• Researched and developed ceiling cloud systems and integrated lighting in conjunction with the ceiling manufacturer and lighting consultant.
• Researched new exterior door system and glazing details for full integration into the building’s existing curtain wall.

• Conducted volumetric studies using 3D computer modelling as part of the building exterior design process.
• Researched local, rural building types and vernacular styles to develop a range of architectural styles that afford distinct character to each part of the house.
• Developed a consistent approach to the interior design while adhering to the wide variety of inspirations proposed by the client and interior designers.
• Researched and developed details for construction products, e.g., custom windows and doors, reclaimed timber and wide-plank floors.
• Developed a strategy employing dormers and complex roof profiles to maximize usable second floor spaces while complying with design limitations stipulated in local codes.
