Marketing and Projects You Would NOT take on...

BulgarBlogger

Are there projects that you would not take on because it conflicts with the marketing strategy/image of your firm? Example: if your firm specialized in large scale urban development, and someone asked you to design a jail... Or- if a one-time project opened up an opportunity to do similar projects on a larger scale like roll-out projects... We don't see OMA doing roll-out projects (just for example)...

You are worried more about your image than your principles?

If you can be profitable and use these projects to hold your team together between big high profile projects I see no harm in doing the occasional ware house or re roof project.  not glamorous but if you can do it well no one may notice, if it leaks or has problems word get's around. So only take on things that you won't lose money on and won't screw up. It can take a lot of billable hours to make up for litigation on a project that you screw up and get sued over.

If you are ripping down an iconic historical building or enabling a developer to do something detrimental to the community think about taking a pass someone will do the work and client's that don't care about the community may also not care about you or your firm.

Image and loyalty are hard things to cultivate.
