Lectured on Tuesday. The architect is in town as the outside judge for NZ Home of the Year. Are you on the NZIA mailing list? If not, and you aren't around the academic institutions, you might not have seen it come around.

it's on the top of kanye's as well. it's an interesting project. the comments are priceless:

"very nice, looks like you'll get nice sunset and sunrise views, but as far as the cityscape goes, being around all those industrial buildings, it may get a little boring to look outside. other than that, everything else in there looks great."

"Must be nice to be rich."

"I like the interior not so much the exterior"

"Shit, I am in love with that house, I think I feel like you did when you saw that place you posted yesterday, except I expect you can probably buy your one, don't think I'll ever have enough for this place..."

[Who knew Maya Lin's Langston Hughes Library so closely resembles a vernacular cantilevered barn ? I don't recall its initial coverage revealing that lineage. . .]

i think the maya lin project WAS a cantilevered barn that she basically rebuilt ("restored") in turning it into the library.
