all I have to say is that LA needs good pizza. I had the shittiest pizza this weekend in Pasadena..gonna get me sone Vinni Van Go Gos in Savanah in three weeks and some Grimaldis in Scottsdale in two weeks
man, we were supposed to have some boring presentation today, so it brought up the eternal dillemna of free lunch but boredom vs. free time but less cash. Well, dillemna solved- they cancelled the presentation, but sent us lunch anyways!
mdler, i highly recommend Rick's. What is sad is that they might have to close shop soon, because of some developer kicking their ass out to make some condos (as if pasadena needs more unoccupied condos).
For pizza in pasadena, did you go to Avanti's pizza on the intersection of Lake and Union ? IMHO, its got some great gourmet pizza, but still cant touch Brooklyn pizza.
yep! i work @ art center in pasadena (up on the hill, not the south campus) and i live in temple city. i hang out a lot in pasadena (lucky baldwin's after work!).
so, mdler, where abouts do you work? you live in town as well, no?
cool dude! i thought you worked in town as well, but i guess i was mistaken.
yeah, i know gerlach's liquor store. when we do make trips down to the south campus building, we stop by sometimes for my co-worker's dip fix. there is a grill there too, no? have you eaten there? if so, how is it?
great! i'll have to check it out for lunch next time. we don't venture off campus too often, maybe only once, or twice a week @ most.
as beautiful as it is up here (on cool mornings i see plenty of deer) it kind of sucks as far as lunch choices are concerned. there are plenty of restaurants in pasadena, but it's a hassle for us getting down there.
so, we have to live with the cafeteria food (which is actually pretty good, but just gets monotonous after a while).
So is anyone going to believe me if I say that we DO have some good burritos here in NYC?!?!
Check out Uncle Moe's Burrito and Taco shop on 19th Street between 5th and 6th. I used to work right down the street and we would eat there all the time. Best burrito I have had in NYC.
BURRITO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No. Proud to say that as long as it was a weeknight, I kept them down.
London has the worst food? you're talking about british cooking right? They do seem to have really good indian restaurants though!
Mdler, talking of pasadena, have you tried the vegeritos and spuderitos at Ricks (the small burger stand on walnut?).
not yet...may have to check it out

i'm surprised nobody's mentioned el tepeyac, yet!
and for pizza in pasadena (or maybe it's south pasadena?) i like mama's brick oven pizza on fair oaks just south of the 110. reeeaaaallly good!
and although i've never been, i've heard lots of good things about casa bianca pizza in eagle rock.
for scale purposes, here is a man's fist next to the almost finished tepeyac burrito.
cris
you live/work in the 'Dena?

It's not Friday. Stop messing with me.
oh, and speaking of tacos, let me make another recommendation:
la estrella in pasadena. one of many. i think the original is in highland park. really good fish tacos.

Who is this Sand Witch you speak of?
Garpike
You interrested in some free booze later tonight?

Vado
free booze isnt a threat
mdler I will only bring you ice cream in June if you give me free booze.
Senor Fish has taken me down! I can't work. I can't sit up straight. I can't see straight.
Stick a fork in me.
garpike, which señor fish? how is it?
Downtown. Tasty as always. We go at least once a week.

Cool. I'll have to check it out.
mdler's hungry

the breakfast of champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
breakfast burritos. mmmmmmmmm...
so, what's a good spot for one?
i have bbq chicken wings leftover from last night.
two words: dee licious.
just bought a new grill and my meat/fish intake has subsequently skyrocketed.
i'll be entering a slab of ribs in the marin county fair next month.
mightylittle's looking for a blue ribbon.
i wonder if i could bbq a burrito?!?
dude... try it!!!
I want to enter my guacomole into the avacoado festival
consider it done.
i'll post some images once it's ready.
and by bbq'd burrito, i don't mean putting some bbq stuff inside the burrito.
i mean bbq'ing the whole damn thing.
it'll be like a chimichanga, only bbq'd instead of deep fried.
un burro que papas rose frijoles y guacamole
sin cremma agria en la guacamole, sin manteca en la frijoles, sin pollo agua en la rose
El Vegano
i make mexicans weep with my guacamole. really.
they look at me like "que te haces guero?"
mightylittle, yeah, i imagine it can be done pretty nicely over low heat. you don't wanna burn the tortilla.
mmmmm... guacamole...
jonas77, do you mean arroz?
I had a VP at Whole Foods tell me I should package my guacamole and sell it
pshaw.
what do they know about guacamole?
definitely put this on the packaging
reallly!?
what's it like?
chunky? smooth?
also, a good tortilla chip is hard to come by. i hate the packaged ones. i love good restaurant quality chips.
who can talk about food while looking at that!?!
i'm starting a new page.
whew. glad that image is in the past.
