puebla tacos on allen/villa is awesome. not just the food, but also the atmosphere is very 'homey'. my office can be found there at lunch prollly 2 times a week....
oh yes, and the funniest part is that when youre in there, the roof eaves are supposed to make it look like you're sitting out, but then those painted 'windows' on the wall look to the outside....(with all the green pastures etc)
and the song selection on the jukebox is just magnifico.
ever been to 'mijares' on allen/washington ? its pretty good too...of course not as much as puebla tacos, but pretty darn good. they have some wicked tacos!
connals (the sandwich/burger place right) is also on washington, but a bit west of the mijares restaurant. mijares is right on washington and allen, in a strip mall and right opposite to what used to be a blockbuster store...
and cris, do ask for all their salsas! real fresh and tasty...
there's a place in berkeley called tacubaya which is the lunch-spot by the peeps who brought you the amazing dona tomas in oakland.
they use spit-roasted niman ranch organic pork for their pastor and let me tell you...it's awesome.
definitely worth a trek to the east bay if you're ever up in SF.
we also have a place in the works in SF called DF as in Districto Federal from mexico city's center city area. the chef who's opening it used to be at this tapas joint also in berkeley that totally killed. i'm looking forward to the family style dining and the carnitas sold by the pound with hand rolled tortillas.
and this place up in napa called Tannya's claims to have invented the chili relleno burrito.
sounds dubious to me, but what do i know?
(i'll tell you what i know - i know how to make a bomb guacamole.)
BURRITO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you mightylittle!
ha ha ha ha, i think you guys should have a guacamole-off!
alright then.
mdler - a guacamole challenge is in your future...
BEWARE!
like supple avocados in my molcajete your dreams shall be crushed.
your fans shall be heartbroken. your minions despondent, and your prep-cooks unemployed.

they're a roadside staple throughout the southeast and lower mid-west.
the red states all have 'em.

i like how the walls are covered in sticks, and they have home-made benches, and these fake birds on a fake roof eave inside
oh yes, and the funniest part is that when youre in there, the roof eaves are supposed to make it look like you're sitting out, but then those painted 'windows' on the wall look to the outside....(with all the green pastures etc)
