Ok, well I don't mind the shape, but the irredesence is kind of disconcerting. Looks slightly animalistic, or well some sort of living thing, and it creeps me out a bit.
rationalist...absolutely and absolutely. You're right, tons of homeless people in LA have bikes and I need to be a card carrying member of your Existential Crisis group.
I mean, I knew I'd get nervous...but I am freakin' out. When I moved to LA for my bachelors, granted it was only 60 miles from home, I was like "check ya laters" and got going. I moved so much as a kid...across 3 continents and never thought anything of it. It just seems like so much right now. So much money, so much packing, so many people to see, so much scheduling and no freakin' time to do it cause I'm working full time and taking a class. Plus, I've never been to a big university, I've never lived somewhere that snows, I've never lived w/out a car, I don't know anyone- ahhhhhhh- it's just intimidating.
breathe.
ok. sorry for the rant. millions of people have done this sort of thing. I will get through it. I honestly am thrilled and excited- just very scared.
architphil...I was leaning no, but now I see them on I say abso-freakin'-lutely! I agree with here's your sign, your wife should get a new pair of shoes now. TC said so.
After viewing the recent posts, I could not help myself. I registered and I'm here! I am a very dutiful architect wife and I have entrusted the shoe decision with yall. Please do not let me down. If I do lose and architphil gets to keep the shoes, I agree that I should get to pick out a pair that he is repelled by!
Ha ha, this is awesome. I love it! Family participation!
Dear architphilwife,
I completely agree that you should get a pair of shoes as well. But, do not pick them because they repel him....you make sure your shoes are hot too. Also, please do not blame me for liking his shoes. I like sparkle and shine. This is coming from a 28-year-old woman who maintains an active costume collection and actually Bedazzled something once (and enjoyed it).
i hate it when you dish out some serious bucks for some footwear, feel so cool and hip and nobody says a goddamned thing about your shoes. what a let down.
So I am eating my potato soup at my desk, and out of an earthware vase. Apparently I only imagined the bowls upstairs in our breakroom, and now I'm stuck dipping my arm into an eight inch tall, 4.5" dia. coountry blue vase. This blows.
I have shoes similar to those Tumbles, but mine are white, with thick/heavy gold chain running the center, and a small heal. They only suck when wet and the foot slides out the side.
i know the shoe's fate is in the hands of TC...
that said, two corrections officers, three baliffs and two secretaries side with me...but as we all know, the legal community is not as stylish as the architectual community!
back to work and i'll leave this sacred place alone....for now at least.
it is the third day..maybe he should change his name to
"mdler resurrected".. kind of an homage to the matrix movies..
although the first one was kind of the best.
I hate the shoes. They scream "pompous asshole" to me. But then, maybe that's an associative thing, as I used to have a boss who wore shoes like that, and he was definitely a pompous asshole.
As tumbles and WonderK know, I'm always up for some patent leather. Tumbles, my fav shoe brand right now is 'B.P.', which seems to be Nordstrom's house brand. If you have a Nordie's Rack nearby, you can find them super-cheap for that level of quality.
architphil, I love the shoes. Do keep them. But do also make sure they can become one of those endearing private jokes between you and architphilwife (hi a-p-w! Go buy some cool shoes!! - so that even if she is logically repelled by them she is also emotionally attracted to YOU in them.
Shoe talk on TC = happy yet distracting day for liberty bell. AP, what shoes do YOU have on today?!?
Holy shit!!! Finally an 'Archinect Jesus'!!! It's as though all of my hard work is finally paying off. I have brought Jesus to Archinect. And I shouldn't be surprised either that he chose Thread Central as the first thread to save either since this thread seems to be most populated by the emotionally underprivileged and spiritually bankrupt. I can only see good things on the horizon now for Thread Central. Less whining about grad school and co-workers, less shoe fetish and less exclusion. Finally we see the light and it is Him. Only good things now for Thread Central and in a pleasantly loving way too!!!
WTD- the BP shoes I've got have held up much better than more expensive brands (for example, a great pair of Seychelles developed a squeaky heel after only three nights out), so I'm typically not too bothered by paying full price. But anything gotten at the Rack is awesome for my wallet. And I'm moving to the HOME of the Rack!!! That makes me happy. And um, yeah, breathe. But I understand. The moving panic hasn't set in for me yet, but I got some serious switching-of-career-panic a few weeks ago and the good people of TC talked me down.
eb- as usual, I'd really appreciate it if you could fuck off.
It's not me. If it had been me, I would have given it away by accidentally signing in as myself and responding. I forget about stuff like that sometimes.
I've actually had a suspicion about EB for a while, and my suspicion is that *she* is a boy.
Aww, architphil, I'm sorry but when you first posted the pic I liked them a lot--the more silvery, the better, IMO--but then when you put up pictures of you wearing them, I hated them! The form is too long and narrow, it makes them look like a woman's shoe, to me. And I'm normally a dead sucker for long, sleek, low-lying shoes. I'm with your wife on this one.
phil, having met and hung out with both you and the misses (Hi!), i feel my point of view is perhaps a bit more informed (having seen you in no less than 3 outfits)...and although we share an appreciation for K-Cole shoes, i have to side with her on this one. i like the shape of the shoes (pointy isn't my thing personally, but it works for some people)...that said, the silver distressed thing is a turn off for me too. it's clear that most of the ladies of TC disagree, but we all know there's only one lady's opinion that truly matters :-P
either way, architphilwife should get herself some new kicks and share her choice with the rest of us....
lb, i'm wearing my very comfortable Born's today...i usually do the day after a soccer game or other activity that makes my old-man knees ache. if you've never checked 'em out, i highly recommend Born shoes for their comfort as much as their style...
lars, that Costanza line is priceless. good catch.
rationalist...I've had a couple pairs that have fallen apart rather quickly...but haven't had 'em in a few years so maybe the quality is better now? Or maybe I was just unlucky.
wtf tumbles? I don't know what's more offensive...the thought that I'd write like that or that I would have anything to do with the "evangelical" jesus- freak BS...
Thread Central

architphil, I stand by my earlier a) vote. They're hot.

Hi architphilwife!!! I think the bad news is that he wins cause we love them....but that's good news for you cause I think you should get new shoes!!!
separate from whether we like the shoes, should we discuss the advisability of wearing shoes that repel your wife?
good point SW
Ha ha, this is awesome. I love it! Family participation!

sarah, the rug is flokati
steven, i think that they'll grow on her...
wK, i can't believe that you're admitting to bedazzling something...
hi honey!!!!
So I am eating my potato soup at my desk, and out of an earthware vase. Apparently I only imagined the bowls upstairs in our breakroom, and now I'm stuck dipping my arm into an eight inch tall, 4.5" dia. coountry blue vase. This blows.
I suppose its funny too.
I wanted to give her some context. If you don't watch out, I'll bedazzle something for you too! Humph.
And I need a bigger/longer spoon.
This is America, I shouldn't have to work in these conditions!
And does a long hair wool rug smell? I could imagine it might.
for dubK
from www.OverheardInWTD'sLivingRoom.com
Last Saturday.
WTD: cleaning out her craft cabinet in preparation of purge and move "hey roomie, do you want my bedazzler complete w/ accessory kit?"
WTD Roomie: "um, naww just get rid of it" note: roommate doesn't think this question is the slightest bit odd
WTD: gasps "what?!? I can't just discard of a bedazzler...but I really can't justify...schlepping it across the country..."
WTD Roomie: rolls eyes
WTD: "That's it...you're keeping it!" as she puts it back on the top shelf of the cabinet
5 minutes elapse
WTD: "OOH look, I found a bonus 144 piece Super Stud kit- score!"
I am 26 y/o.

"If Relationship George walks through that door, he will kill
Independent George! A George divided against itself, cannot stand!"

the dawn of a new mdler
rationalist...BP is brass plum..nordies only brand. Cute styles, but overpriced for quality level, so it's great the get them at the rack.

I still want a bedazzled Architecture Sucks shirt.
Sarah, pleasepleaseplease post a pick of your soup vase!! That is hilarious, though frustrating.
emotionally underprivileged and spiritually bankrupt...awesome.
why do I feel like saying something like "I know you are, but what am I"?
I think we can now narrow the field of suspects as to who evangelical bunny is, given who is actually active on TC right NOW.
I think it's a female.

Crossing my fingers.
why do I get the ?
I tell mdler when he annoys me.
lame.
It's not me. If it had been me, I would have given it away by accidentally signing in as myself and responding. I forget about stuff like that sometimes.
I've actually had a suspicion about EB for a while, and my suspicion is that *she* is a boy.
the above image is NTS, btw....

width=418
why can't it be mdler?
Yeah!!! I did it!!!
well, almost.
who cares who EB is, as long as he/she/it goes away?
That was quick.

Ha, I love seeing Mr. Potatohead peeking over the top of the "bowl" - but doesn't he make you feel nauseous? He does me.
That WAS quick!! You guys are all being too much fun today, I have work to do!

double posting...calling guys moby...broken links....linking to senior citizen gay porn....
Well he might if he weren't a dead ringer for one of the village people. Got him in a Taco Bueno happy meal once, and hes a FireMan, mustache and all.
