Let's not get combative here folks. I think anyone with a creative writing streak could be evangelical bunny...... and I still like the shoes, no matter what anyone says, but ultimately it's up to phil, so let's not make him feel like a toolbox for buying them, word?
and myriam i just read throught that entire episode..
for more context:
GEORGE: Ah you have no idea of the magnitude of this thing. If she is
allowed to infiltrate this world, then George Costanza as you know him,
Ceases to Exist! You see, right now, I have Relationship George, but
there is also Independent George. That's the George you know, the
George you grew up with -- Movie George, Coffee shop George, Liar
George, Bawdy George.
JERRY: I, I love that George.
GEORGE: Me Too! And he's Dying Jerry! If Relationship George walks
through this door, he will Kill Independent George! A George, divided
against itself, Cannot Stand!
of course it's especially good the way the actors played it.
lars...really? w/ everyone else marked a qualified no or probably not?
lame. I didn't know EB was an alter ego. but who knows who is who around here. I didn't know that I should have announced my disdain for the Christian right around here...I take for granted the liberal, unobtrusive vibe of most of the people that I know (especially in LA). Guess I got too comfortable. If you knew how much I hate that (meaning EB's) type of attitude, you'd understand why I'm so offended. It represents everything wrong with the country. But, you didn't know and C'est la vie.
now everyone can tell me to calm down, it didn't mean anything, no big deal. fine.
damn AP... i was counting on you to come through for me...
also architphilwife received two pairs of shoes from zappos the day before mine arrived... but she had to send them back because they were too small... so she is getting her own new shoes too...
So, guus, nobody ever shows up for work anymore. On any given day lately, out of 8 of us, 1-2 don't show up at all, 2-3 are late by a few hours, and 2-3 leave early. Job site visits stretch to last all day, instead of an hour or two otherwise. Heck, we don't even turn the lights on anymore. We have ONE project (over 2,000 s.f.) in design. I'm a little worried about job security.
Luckily, I am starting my real estate development thing soon, I'll keep you all posted as to how I turn 2k into 100k. Don't laugh, it's foolproof.
(I am not EB, I'm not near that witty. Don't know who is, I suspect VADO though cause he is superwitty.)
Architphil - I don't hate the shoes, I am sure they read differently in person than in the photos. I think it depends on your personality and body language. Can you pull it off without seeming a pompous ass (rationalist's words, not mine)? Is it worth it to disgust your wife?
architphil - i am going to join the "no" camp; I am not feeling the shoes. But my preferences of men's shoes tend to come from Yohji Yamamoto, Margiela, Costume National, Helmut Lang, Raf Simons, etc - not everyone's aesthetic. At least that is what I wear when I dress as a man.
clarification: if the "shiny shoes" (as they will now and forever be known as) win, i will be getting a pair of shoes that architphil strongly dislikes...maybe some of those ubiquitous crocs...now that would be repulsive!
ok, architphil, in an effort to do anything possible not to perpetuate the buying and wearing of fugly crocs, I now hate your shoes and architphilwife is not allowed to get a new pair.
Funny that TC is diving into their shoe fetish today. After conversation with my head of organisation, we've planned all planned to wear red shoes tomorrow. Will shoe pictures!
i have had five pairs of tsubos..and i used to wear those that you
have almost every day...i'm currently throwin on the campers, but
i've worn the sole down to the quick and have been shoe shopping
recently.
and orhan..
i was just speakin about quantities...not display...although i think i saw
a picture in 'W' of imelda's shoe collection and display and it's pretty
impressive.
and in finding that image, I discovered a 40% off + free shipping sale at sketchers, so I think I'm gonna get me something else that can go from bike to office without looking funny, because I wind up wearing those most days now, since I don't feel like packing a change of shoes.
archiphil - I've seen those shoes and even tried them on. but I couldn't get past the tarnished silver - oddly enough I did see them in gold as well (although not sure if it was the same brand). I'm undecided but more inclined to go with apw simply because well...life is far too short to disagree with loving women.
hi apw, I'm architechnophilia - the resident island TC'r usually posting from a hammock under the trees starring out at the sea and sunset (although not today its overcast, bugger)

haha yeah, that's one of my all-time fave costanza lines :)

So COLAB in PDX is looking for a 8 year plus architect to join them - given my recent property tax upheaval, perhaps I should apply....
jones, what about you? Ready to dive back in?
I thought EB was kind of funny and not serious??

ok...tumbles...no problem. I'd just rather be called pretty much anything else than "evangelical___". it was unintentional.
done now.
back to shoes.
i agree namby... i thought it was kinda funny given mdler's resurrection...
wtd...the others have a lot more posts than yourself as well..
and i think have been around here more so their voices have been
well established.
that and tumbles doesn't seem to be mean spirited or accusatory
as far as i can tell.
it is not me. just in case any of you were wondering. andres duany is about as evengelical as i can handle. i'm not even sure i'm ok with him.
mmmm. white people from the urals.
and maybe you've consumed enough whiskey to be full of
spirits...or in this case 'the spirit' (which is whiskey)?
Hey, careful, man, there’s a beverage here
fighting spirit
spirit of adventure
can-do spirit
'that's the spirit'
spirited defense
performed with spirit
in looking at the wikipedia entry i thought this was interesting:
...both the Scandinavian languages and the Chinese language uses
the term "breath" to refer to the spirit.
damn AP... i was counting on you to come through for me...
also architphilwife received two pairs of shoes from zappos the day before mine arrived... but she had to send them back because they were too small... so she is getting her own new shoes too...
i also acquired these pumas...
I'm wearing some patent leather shoes today. brown. hot! hot! hot!

I wore nothing but Pumas for several years, they also make some pretty classy dress shoes that can pass for formal in a pinch.
tumbles,
I will be your 'spirit'
frankly i'm waiting for someone to add the shoes onto either:
a. the garwondler
or
b. mdler in the elephant.
im waiting for the 'i liked mdler a lot better when he was dead' post...
lars
there is a Garwondlerkai
isn't it more of a garwondlerweed?
architphil - i am going to join the "no" camp; I am not feeling the shoes. But my preferences of men's shoes tend to come from Yohji Yamamoto, Margiela, Costume National, Helmut Lang, Raf Simons, etc - not everyone's aesthetic. At least that is what I wear when I dress as a man.
vans or flip flops here (adidas sometimes)
the only time I would ever need dress shoes in LA is to get into the Edison bar, but it is a shitty bar anyways
in case i don't check in the next ten minutes...
HA HA, vado got me laughing silently at my desk....it hurts....
It's true though. At the current rate, TC be at 126 by CA quitting time. Sooner even.
hey! just found out that cameron will be coming to louisville. yay!

hey, and so will the invisable Steve from apple.

and
http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7277615/c/655.html
sorry, but i can't figure out how to add a pic and architphil is not answering his cell phone!
ok, architphil, in an effort to do anything possible not to perpetuate the buying and wearing of fugly crocs, I now hate your shoes and architphilwife is not allowed to get a new pair.
those are both cool. i like the second ones better. maybe my wife needs some shoes from zappos...

^^^ tsubos i'm wearing today.
I like those a lot!
Funny that TC is diving into their shoe fetish today. After conversation with my head of organisation, we've planned all planned to wear red shoes tomorrow. Will shoe pictures!
And I didn't know anyone actually took EB seriously.
rationalist wears these:

I'm a "professional Imelda" as well, with almost 200 pairs and counting.
Today's selection:
archiphil - I've seen those shoes and even tried them on. but I couldn't get past the tarnished silver - oddly enough I did see them in gold as well (although not sure if it was the same brand). those sketchers are GREAT for bike to office, huh? did you ever get the sequin ones? I had to throw mine out - they got funky.
