is anyone planning on calling cal and asking them why they lied to us yesterday about email notifications and when they REALLY plan on notifying us poor anxious souls?
I got an email from them this morning with that link, perhaps just the definite rejectees got it? I would be feeling a lot better now if I were the rest of you waiting in that case. Also the email came at 3am! Not only do they email after you think they've left the office, they email after you've gone to bed!
berkeley- they're going out this week by email. now listen....put it in your head that you'll get an email by friday, late afternoon. that way, when you hear tomorrow morning, or sooner, you'll be pleasantly surprised. stop torturing yourselves....it's upsetting me!!!!!!!! and some more unsolicited advice- DON'T CALL WHINING TO ADMISSIONS!!! They'll remember you and if you are in fact accepted, you've started three plus years on the wrong foot. True, it is a pain in the as# not to know, but the actual field of architecture isn't any more sympathetic.
good luck to everyone and congrats to those who have already heard!
S - Thanks for calling. I know checking my email every five minutes isn't going to help my chances of getting in or my mental state, but I just can't help myself. But you're right, gotta get it into my head not to expect anything until Friday.....
no problem...it's just that, well, you're all going to architecture school to become architects....the torture is imminent! no need to start now!! stop off for happy hour after work, so much more fun!
settled then. no news until late friday afternoon across the board. i suggest a simultaneous group cocktail this evening to take the edge off and to congratulate everyone for getting their shit together enough to apply to grad school, playing the waiting game, getting accepted, having so much as a slight interest in architecture........say, around 7?!
I got home last night and saw a honker in my mailbox. I could see the word "School" through the lil' grate, so I got all excited. It was just the RISD envelope--which I'm totally stoked about--but I already knew it was coming. Anyway, the point is: I opened my mailbox and the thing was literally torn to shreds...completely ripped open...bent....falling apart. Clearly, the U.S. Postal Service was just as excited about my fate as me--I'm so glad they took such an active interest in plans for next year!
Two questions: Did anyone get any kinda scholarships from RISD (the yearly cost estimate they gave was something absurd...like way over 50,000)...also, has anyone gotten anything beyond the original email from UCLA?
Strugs: I got the RISD package yesterday, too. No scholarship info. here. I think earlier in the thread someone mentioned something about a TA position or something.
I can't be over 150K in debt after grad school, that's insane!
Are there many here that applied to rice? There's been so much crazy buzz about the Ivy's, the california schools, even the rest of the schools in texas, but not a hoot about the owls.
My friend goes to Rice and last time I asked her they were closed up in a room deliberating still. That was about 2 weeks ago. I can ask her if she knows anything.
Hoot Hoot - I'm waiting to hear from Rice but I'm not holding my breath. The program sounds well-suited to my interests and I'd even be willing to move to Houston...
I know i keep asking this question, but it seems to be such well guarded info: how big is the Rice program for M.Arch 1! Emerson can you ask your friend?
I just called her in Houston to verify this so it should be pretty accurate:
When my friend was admitted they only accepted 12. She was lucky number 13 because she won a big competition at our school (University of Michigan's Wallenburg competition).
It is really small program. They admit 12 for the Option 1 program (3+ years) and 12 for the M Arch 1.
Some of her friends on the admission committee said that they were done looking at all the portfolios and stuff but the room where all that stuff is located is still locked up.
andrea - it's teany tiny - i think the whole graduate school is ~100 students...and first professional usually take the bullk of graduate programs - so they probably have 20-30 students a year entering? that's my guess...
two-headed, the parsons open house is next thursday the 30th. call them i'd say. it seemed like they did not have their shit together when i heard, so its likely that something got lost or miscommunicated.
those of you admitted to UT-Austin- are you from Texas and did you get the e-mail from financial aid saying you had not yet been admitted? I still have absolutely no word in either mail or on the website... don't know what to think...
accepted to grad schools yet?

I called Cal twice yesterday, but I agree with 8888, someone please do it!
online status at ucla is updated for me: rejected
it probably was a horrible fit anyway, but it sounded cool for some reason.
i got an e-mail first that said to check my application status
i'll call berkeley....it's no risk for me b/c i didn't apply there. i can't stand to witness your torture anymore!! give me a few minutes.....

MIT by e-mail, UPenn by snail-mail . . .both by the end of this week, huh?
Man, I cannot WAIT until this process is over and done with.
I will now be super-obsessively checking e-mail.
S - wonderful plan, now we just have to wait until 7 ;-)
7 - what time zone?
i was just saying to my desk-mate here how i could go for a drink right about now. and its 2:15 est. mmmm beer sounds good.

andrea we know you're waiting on berkeley...but what else?
Waiting for Berkeley, Rice, Penn and MIT. Rejected from UCLA, Yale, UVa. Accepted nowhere!
i feel your pain. keep your chin up!!

8888, is the Parsons Open House this Thursday or next? I still have heard nothing, WTF??
Did anyone apply to Pratt? any word?
Have we heard of anymore UCLA ejects since 3am?
two-headed boy, i did apply to pratt, and haven't heard a word.

great, that means its highly unlikely, just like princeton. Next year, Im applying to easier schools.
vigggo which school do you mean is highly unlikely?
did anyone apply to the AA?...any word?
also, has anyone received rejections yet from the Ivies (excluding of course the e-ject from princeton)?

lots of us recieved yale rejections... don't think there's been any other ivy rejects? that's scary
*disregard the botched first post*
*and disregard my response to it :) *
dusty: I was talking about Rice. Small classes because they cover so much of the tuition. So extremely competitive....
whew, finally got the little Columbia letter. Thats a relief. Now to decide if I can afford it?
vigggo did you just get it today??
congratulations by the way=)
Yes, received it in the mail today. Im the SW, so maybe thats why it took longer. Thanks for the congrats...
er, 'Im in the SW'
hmm. well i live in the e. village and that's over a hundred blocks from columbia, so that's probably why i haven't gotten mine yet either.
heh, well, forget what I just said then. Remember, rolling basis!
