seems like i did all of my thesis form-z work just rotating orbital cd's...course that was rendering on 6100's, 7100's and even a SWEEEEET 8100 throughout the night.
and i had to walk 10 miles through the snow to get to the computer lab.....
now i just listen to crystal method's legion of boom as prelude and then jason bentley's metropolis on demand whenever it's crunch time.
steve reich - triple quartet
koop - waltz for koop
kruder + dorfmeister - k+d sessions
gotan project - la revancha del tango

nicola conte - bossa per due
i've been working for a month in a project for a bishop's HQ while listening non-stop to DJ Shadow's 'In tune and on time' (Brixton Academy, London '02) ... and its been a pretty strange combination.. but I've survived.. and I know I'll be listening to all my Zappa cd's next fall at work, because Ahmet and Dweezil are coming to town, starting the euro Zappa Plays Zappa tour here in October..
anything by underworld - specifically second toughest of the infants (as mentioned above)
steve lawler - nubreed cd 1

my boss just left! thank the lord... usually i have to wait till 5 or 6 to put on my headphones, and breathe a sigh of relief for another day done... but today... i get to spend my last few hours loving "Clap your hands say yeah", probably listen to The Wrens "Meadowlands" as well
I am amazed by the amount of "techno" people listen to........
I think some of that stuff I just read is techno??
I like to listen to Ted Leo, the Walkmen, rage, the national so on and so forth- you know music with guitars.
Thats a tough one, so if anyone else wants to speak up, feel free.
Here's my attempt: kinda like the Dwarves, but replace the surf-punk influence with Nordic metal.
glenn gould, the complete goldberg variations
neutral milk hotel when i have to write a lot
sleater-kinney when im frustrated
and lately, while laboring over a 1:50 site model, built to spill
lletdownl: (or anyone else whose employer won't let them listen to music at work), what is the boss' reasoning behind that? i can't imagine any possible justification i could buy. i don't know how long i'd be able to stand working at a place like that. i'm so much more productive when i have music, especially when doing mundane stuff like picking up redlines or checking submittals.
bryan4arch: yeah... it is incredibly frustrating not being allowed to listen to music... the office is always so quite i have to get up and walk around to keep from falling asleep most afternoons... i asked him one time why there was no music allowed, he said he felt it was distracting...
but... now taht i have no music... i just spend more time on this place to keep sane while my boss looks over my shoulder at the 3d models
"Move a little to the left, get that corner... oh, no... actually, move back a little, ok, now more to the right, can you go up, rotate up a little? no, thats not right, try moving 7.7 degrees NNW, almost, zoom in a touch... OH, nope.. not quite what i was hoping for, lets start over"
Best Album to design/work to!
Good call sean!
out of the 'lets talk about music thread' we had a question come up
question was What is the best radiohead album?
and then...
Whats the Best Album to Design to?

joe henry: little voices
THE TRIBE CALLED QUEST-MIDNIGHT MARUADERS

most productive album in our office:
soundtrack of the movie solaris, by Cliff Martinez
im not allowed to listen to music while work... so that really sucks... but i always loved working to The Faint, LCD Soundsystem, of The GO! Team
As was mentioned before, Broken Social Scene is great to work to as well, but i liked working to the all instrumental Feel Good Lost
steve reich - triple quartet
koop - waltz for koop
kruder + dorfmeister - k+d sessions
gotan project - la revancha del tango
micatone - is you is [lisa's voice is f-ing hot]

for some reason i get REALLY productive when queen starts to play. maybe it's the anthem rock thing?
i like queen but they're def. not my favorite music. but when fat bottomed girls starts pumping. i start a p-linin', xrefin', and blockin' like crazy.
infusion, sasha & digweed, james zabeila, sander klinenberg, chus & cheballos
you made me laugh out loud on my own in front of the others ACfA. Shame on you.
pixies, when building models
Best music to crank to:
At the Gates - "Slaughter of the soul"
Best music to charette to:
Apparat - "Duplex"
Global Communication, 76:14
Boards of Canada, music has the right...
Aphex Twin, selected ambient works vol. 2
Nothing particularly unusual there; it's just what works.
underworld -- second toughest of the infants
Todd Rundgren's
"I don't want to work, I want to bang
on the drum all day"
over and over again
If I can pick EPs as well as albums I'd have to say:
Boards of Canada - 'a beautiful place out in the country EP'
Mouse on Mars - 'instrumentals'
Tosca - 'suzuki'
If not, I'll agree with drs and replace the EP with 'music has the right to children'
jesca hoop
jolie holland
Orbital-Insides Disk 2 over and over again.
Nothing with guitars anyway...
I like Underworld for working to, especially for Cad-monkeying
Meatal Fingers: Special Herbs

a couple of old ones
ritchie hawtin/plastikman - decks effects and 909. f-ing brilliant.
masive attack - mezzanine
also in a whole different vein
american analog set - know by heart
for a sort of musical but also drone-y deal
colder - colder
when you really need to freak the funk and stop being so damn precious about it.
squarepusher - go plastic
derrick may - mayday mix
when you really need to be precise
ritchie hawtin - consumed
or any of his other mixes for that matter
I second the At The Gates album
Any Opeth album is a must as well.
anything by underworld - specifically second toughest of the infants (as mentioned above)
steve lawler - nubreed cd 1
john digweed - bedrock cd's 1 & 2
the orb - u f off and adventures beyond the ultraworld
deep dish - GU 21 Moscow

thank you , very much, mr boss guy, for leaving
At The Gates or any sort of good (emphasis on the good) metal is great for pumping out drawings for a deadline.
For general office production, I'd have to go with pretty much anything by Cake or The Flaming Lips.
tricky - maxinqueye
radiohead only if its on headphones
i second boards of canada and DJ shadow; always solid choices.
I am amazed by the amount of "techno" people listen to........
I think some of that stuff I just read is techno??
I like to listen to Ted Leo, the Walkmen, rage, the national so on and so forth- you know music with guitars.
BTW, nothing against techno - just not my bag.
Pixies - Death to the Pixies or their frist reunited show in Minneapolis..bought online recroded live at hte show

Radiohead - Hail to the theif or OK Computer...I tend to zone out to Kid A
