NYS Experience Requirements Engineering or Architecture Firm

mvc117

Does anyone know if there is a minimum requirement for working at an architecture firm under a licensed architect or can you meet your 3 year requirement from working at an engineering firm under a licensed architect as your supervisor?

I believe you can do all 3 at the engineering firm so long as you are under the ny licensed architect. I can't remember exactly, but I know this information is spelled out on the nys education requirements site. You should cross check the ncarb requirements though as they differ slightly - assuming you want the ncarb as well.

Yes you can work in an engineering firm for credits. NYS allows up to 5 years in non-architect firm but NCARB only allows a year or so. Here's a link to the NYS experience requirement website. http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/a...
