In 2013, several prominent architectural firms in Iran participated in a design competition for the development of the Bargh Hotel, a multifaceted complex near the revered shrine of Imam Reza. The complex includes over 500 rooms and features amenities such as commercial units, conference halls, and meeting spaces. The primary focus of the design concept was to optimize the building's orientation to maximize views of the shrine, thereby enhancing the value of the hotel's rooms. This was accomplished by strategically integrating diagonal geometries, which also contributed to the formation of a visually appealing Islamic pattern on the facade. Sustainability was a critical aspect of the design process, with the building incorporating eco-friendly technologies such as solar panels and geothermal heating systems. After the competition, the design ultimately awarded second place following a refinement phase.
