The Miami River 5th Street Bridge project replaced the 77 year old bridge with a wider span between piers at the river to prevent collisions with the structure which was a hazard for ships and vehicular traffic across the bridge. With the wider span, more ships can pass without lifting the bridge, decreasing bridge traffic congestion. I was responsible for the design, DD's and CD's of the new precast concrete control tower. The project tried to incorporate the architectural flavor of Miami art deco design. Completed March 2010.
