PROJECT NARRATIVE: The design for this contemporary home was inspired by the lifestyle of the clients and their interest in architectural and fashion design. It features a series of masses arranged upon the site such that a private courtyard with a pool and passive solar orientation are maximized. The volumetric masses of the 3-bedroom home are complimented by a thinly connected ADU/garage which has served as an owner’s studio, a guest space and a bedroom. Heating the home is augmented by passive solar using Southern facing openings and a concrete floor to collect store and radiate heat in the evening. The pool is also heated using a solar photovoltaic array located on the roof.
