COPACABANA CONDOMINIUM

FOLLOWING THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK OF THE PREVIOSU PROJECT, THIS IS ANOTHER DEVELOPMENT THAT LEVERAGES FROM THE DOUBLE CEILING HEIGH TO VALUE THE SOCIAL AREA OF THE APARTMENT.

AS IN THIS PROJECT THE CLIENT REQUESTED ONLY ONE TYPOLOGY FOR THE APARTMENTS, THE SOLUTION CREATED WAS TO ROTATE THE STANDARD FLOOR PLANS. THIS WAY I COULD KEEP THE SOCIAL AREA DOUBLE CEILING HEIGHT BY FILLING THE VOID WITH THE NEXT FLOOR’S APARTMENT BEDROOM AREA, AND SO ON AS THE FLOORS MOVE UP

THE APARTMENTS HAVE 3 SUITES BESIDES A TOILET, AND THE CHALLENGE WAS TO LOCATE THE INFRASTRUCTURE SHAFTS IN A WAY THAT IT WOULDN’T BE TWISTED THE WAY THE STANDARD FLOORPLANS ARE, AND ALSO AVOIDING TOO MUCH FILLING IN THE WALLS, LOSING FLOORSPACE.

A STANDARD VEGETATION THROUGHOUT ALL THE FLOORS WAS THE KEY ELEMENT TO DESIGN THE FACADE, THIS IS A WORLDWIDE TECHNIQUE TO PROVIDE BETTER COMFORT FOR THE APARTMENTS, WHILE ALSO FEATURES AN INTERESTING DYNAMIC TO THE FACADE.

TO ALLOW A GREATER FLUIDITY AND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR AREAS, I CHOSE TO CREATE A SINGLE FRAME FOR THE LIVING ROOM GLASS PANELS ACROSS THE DOUBLE CEILING HEIGHT, CHALENGING BOTH STRUCTURE AND AESTHETIC SUBJECTS.
