Project Budget
Phase I - $3.5 million; Phase II - $4.4 million
The Lyman Center reflects the current mission and philosophy of the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department, providing counseling, rehabilitation, and work production services in one facility. The 35,000 square foot structure is subdivided into three major program components: an area office, a 10,000 square foot production/training floor, and a special services unit for occupational and physical therapy. The integration of daylighting, connections to nature, and a variety of "green" principles observed in the design of the facility, foster a healthy and productive workplace for clients and staff. Designed for an organization that values its relationships within the business community, the facility appeals to corporate and technological aesthetics while also blending with its organic, wooded site on the Middle Tyger River.
