As the Responsible Architect and Project Manager at TranSystems Corp., Gregory led all design and production services including coordination for 3 of the 4 new Light Rail Stations which are part of the Phase 2 extension for the South Sacramento Light Rail Corridor. Approximately 6 miles of track & structures with 4 new stations terminating at Consumes Community College. TranSystems & Gregory were responsible for the prototypical station architecture design presenting 3 different concepts. The selected concept was then adapted to 3 stations: Morrison Creek, Franklin & Center Parkway. A collaborative design charrette including members of The HLA Group, TranSystems and SRTD was used to define 3 alternative design concepts: Crossroads, Orchard, & Trellis. The preferred design, “Crossroads” maintains an S-shaped canopy roof line rising off columns via a 4 prong strut. The structural concept provided for the incorporation of a cost effective up/down lighting solution that will enhance the floating roof line. The project required community presentations with a public design approval process. RT plans to meet a 2012 revenue service date.
