The Workshop was dedicated to the renovation of historical place – Forte di Pietole.
I worked under the project of re-designing the former storage building, constructed in 60-es into the Restaurant.
The existing building looks by its both long sides to the forest. That’s why I characterized that building as a “gate” , opening its views to the greenery.
Dividing both facades of the dinner hall by meaning, I opened the one side, facing to the road with more visual permeability.
Working with sharpening aspect of greenery observation I leaved the second long side more closed.
Sun rays, coming through opening stripes, should create different artistic effect during the day.
During the night the central part of the building created the “lantern” effect, spreading light stripes into the forest.
Structurally, the building works as a double shell: suspended façade – existing reinforced concrete framework – knauf interior partitions.
Façade’s stripes is a separated sliding system of panted aluminum panels.
