RIBA and the London School of Economics (LSE) have yet to announce the winning team this November for their New Global Centre for Social Sciences competition.

As part of the decision-making process for the winning design, the LSE hosted a public exhibition from Oct. 7 - Oct. 18 where visitors had the opportunity to vote for their favorite one. All designs have remained under anonymity. — bustler.net

"Echoing Plateau" by Toshiki Hirano was one of twelve semi-finalist entries for the Waterfront Gateway Design competition to redevelop the waterfront and downtown communities in the historic City of New Rochelle in New York. The finalists for the EyeTime 2013 competition have been revealed for the Emerging Talent and Future Voices categories. The competition aims to promote the research, exploration and investigation among today's emerging talent. — bustler.net

NEXT architects from Amsterdam and Beijing recently won first place in a bridge design competition for Meixi Lake near the Changsha capital in Hunan, China. The new bridge is a major part of a development project for the new Dragon King Harbor River district. — bustler.net

3xLP by Christopher Romano and Nicholas Bruscia has been announced as the winner of SKIN, the international digital fabrication competition from the TEX-FAB Digital Fabrication Alliance. The competition began with 68 entries from 14 countries from which four finalists and four honorable mentions were selected by the First Round Jury back in July.

Out of the four finalist entries, which were all exhibited at the ACADIA Adaptive Architecture conference, the Second Round Jury decided on 3xLP. — bustler.net

The search to find the architect team to help redesign the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library continues as the competition narrowed down from 26 firms to 10 last month. These 10 teams were invited to create technical proposals on how they would approach renovating the Mies van der Rohe-designed library in Washington D.C. Firms are not expected to submit design concepts in this round. Proposals will be judged by a team of library, urban planning, architecture and preservation experts. — bustler.net

The winners of the 2013 World Habitat Awards were officially announced by the Building and Social Housing Foundation (BSHF) on Oct. 7 during World Habitat Day in Medellín, Colombia. Out of 200 entries from around the world, the winning projects were selected based on which ones presented the most innovative and sustainable housing solutions to support economic and community restoration and provide for homeless individuals. — bustler.net

Five teams were selected for the second stage of the international architectural "Russia" theme park competition. The Jury, the Expert Council, and "Russia" park representatives met this past September to begin searching for the concept and financial model for the theme park.

Twenty-six submissions out of 180 registered applicants from 41 countries made it to Stage I, which was then narrowed down to 18 after the Expert Council made further evaluations. — bustler.net

Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter from Denmark won the competition to design the new main building of the School of Economics and Management for the University of Lund in Sweden. The 16,000 m2 cubic structure will have four stories raised on a one-story base, which will altogether consist of lecture halls, research and student facilities, and green space. — bustler.net

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture's design proposal was selected for the 2017 Astana World Expo exhibition site. Construction of the two-phase development is expected to begin in March-April 2014. — bustler.net

With a total of 73 entries from 37 schools around the world, the winners have finally been revealed for the Bay Bridge House Student Design Competition. Architecture and design students had to develop a modern, self-sustainable house made from the scraps of the soon-to-be-demolished eastern span of the historic Oakland Bay Bridge in the California Bay Area. — bustler.net

From six finalists to three and finally to one, Morphosis Architects will be designing the new U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, as announced by The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) earlier this week.

Morphosis won against top-name contenders Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Mack Scogin Merrill Elam / AECOM. All top three teams advanced to the competition's final round of presentations and interviews. Submitting designs weren't a requirement. — bustler.net

Six finalist teams were invited to develop design concepts for the National Holocaust Monument that will be built in the Canadian capital of Ottawa. The two-phase national competition began with a Call for Qualifications in May 2013.
