TEX-FAB's Plasticity is the fourth annual competition that focuses on connecting experimental design practices with industry leaders, while also promoting innovative research in the architectural applications of digital fabrication and parametric design. Since 3xLP by Christopher Romano and Nicholas Bruscia won the most recent TEX-FAB SKIN Digital Fabrication competition, the installation was exhibited at TEX-FAB 5 in Austin and will travel to Houston and Dallas along with the other competition finalists this fall.
The SKIN competition paired emerging design research practices with fabrication industry leaders to create innovative solutions for facade systems using digital fabrication and parametric design tools.

3xLP by Christopher Romano and Nicholas Bruscia has been announced as the winner of SKIN, the international digital fabrication competition from the TEX-FAB Digital Fabrication Alliance. The competition began with 68 entries from 14 countries from which four finalists and four honorable mentions were selected by the First Round Jury back in July.
Out of the four finalist entries, which were all exhibited at the ACADIA Adaptive Architecture conference, the Second Round Jury decided on 3xLP.

In October of last year, we reported that the parametric design concept Cast Thicket had been selected as the winning entry of APPLIED: Research Through Fabrication competition. Over the past 4 months, the winning designers Christine Yogiaman and Ken Tracy have further developed their proposal in collaboration with TEX-FAB, and now Cast Thicket is complete and installed in the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Architecture Gallery. — bustler.net

In mid-June, we published the first round finalists of the TEX-FAB APPLIED: Research through Fabrication competition, and today it was announced that the overall winner was the entry CAST THICKET by Christine Yogiaman and Ken Tracy. The jury, consisting of Nader Tehrani, Andrew Kudless, Branko Kolarevic, and Vlad Tenu, selected the winning project from the four finalists. CAST THICKET will now be built for the next TEX-FAB Event in Dallas next Spring, 2013. — bustler.net
