Richard Garber, associate professor of architecture, has been appointed director of the School of Architecture at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Garber is the author of “BIM Design: Realizing the Creative Potential of Building Information Modeling” (Wiley, 2014). He is an award-winning architect and partner at GRO Architects. Kean University’s plans to open a school architecture now face opposition from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, which claims the program would be a wasteful duplication and that Kean has failed to seek approvals [...]
“If you have the state involved in sponsored programs, they would have to have a geographical disparity or offer different programs. I think it would hard not to come to that conclusion,” said Urs Gauchat, NJIT Dean of the School of Architecture and Design.

What does it take to build a livable home for under $100 per square foot?
For a group of architecture students at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, that question was answered in a semester-long project that ended last week.
The project culminated with two students winning top honors among their classmates by having their projects selected for construction by Habitat for Humanity.

"Team NJ" — as the group of architecture, planning and engineering students from the two universities is called — has built a futuristic-looking, one-story house that challenges traditional building techniques and sets a model for innovative, green housing. — nj.com
