University of Kansas faculty member Keith Diaz Moore has been selected as the next dean of the the University of Utah's College of Architecture and Planning, university officials announced Monday.
Diaz Moore's term as dean is expected to begin Aug. 1, pending final approval by U. President David Pershing and the university's board of trustees.

An architecture professor at a Missouri university has been named the dean of the Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas.
Peter MacKeith, a professor at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, is set to become the UA school's dean, effective July 1.

As for Mies' continuing relevance, the main lesson he draws is: “We should not copy. We should try to understand the time we're living in and how we can make use of the latest technological possibilities so that architecture continues to move forward. We should build for generations to come. Architecture is not something fashionable. It has duration.”
What this means in terms of the school's future direction is a question still to be answered.
