Joshua Foer (younger brother of Franklin and Jonathan Safran) has devised a competition to reimagine the sukkah, an ancient Jewish structure built each year during the harvest festival of Sukkot. He loves the mix of primal and modern typologies, has assembled a crack Jewish jury, and will install 12 winner this September in New York's Union Square.

I'd love to see a few minarets pop up right next to this.
This sounds fun!
FP: why not submit a formal transformation from a minaret to a sukkah ? If you design it in the parametric style, it's sure to win.
fascinating (and beautiful). i wish i was a jury on this one.
another very interesting jewish tradition i am fascinated with is called eruv which has very direct implications on common property.
