The Architectural League calls on the Museum of Modern Art to reconsider its decision to demolish the American Folk Art Museum. The Museum of Modern Art—the first museum with a permanent curatorial department of architecture and design—should provide more information about why it considers it necessary to tear down this significant work of contemporary architecture. The public has a substantial and legitimate interest in this decision, and the Museum of Modern Art has not yet offered a compelling justification for the cultural and environmental waste of destroying this much-admired, highly distinctive twelve-year-old building.

why wasn't this the title photo?
Excellent job Leaguers! Thank you for taking a stand.
We support all of those who take this stand to see to it that this building and buildings in similar situations remain standing.
If MoMA does doom this building then the public should call on MoMA to allow the systematic dismantling of the building rather than the complete demolition of it. Then the building itself may be gone but the components and materials can live in on in other works of architecture or art.
I'm giving this my best shot if things are to proceed with mine instead of MoMA's new Hi rise & razing of the Folk Art Building next to MoMA as an infinitely better alternative for the arts.
Bill Rabinovitch -- Simplified Top Image of my new MoMA Hybrid 04-23-13 -- includes 2 floors of new galleries plus roof top with smaller enclosed spaces & sculpture garden -- including MoMA's Folk Art Museum - State 3 - conjoined spaces.
