In an effort to make students absorb the lesson that "energy is a precious commodity", the U.S Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy sponsored the Solar Decathlon, challenging 18 college and university teams to compete and operate the most attractive and energy-efficient solar-powered home. I think this is a great program, but damn, what a horrible name. Somehow reminds me of high school "mathletes".
